Last updated 5 August 2026. Effective from the first public release of Minnu on Google Play.
Minnu is a companion app. The conversations people have with her are personal in a way that most app data is not, and this policy is written to be read rather than to be survived. Where a section can be short and specific, it is.
Minnu is published by Nikhil Nelson, sole proprietor trading as Streamline, a proprietorship registered in Kerala, India. A proprietorship is not a separate legal person, so the data fiduciary and controller responsible for your information is Nikhil Nelson.

Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices) Rules, 2011, you may raise any complaint about how your data is handled at that email address. We aim to acknowledge within 72 hours and to resolve within 30 days.
The registered postal address is not published here — this is a business run by one person, and the registered address is a home. It is on file with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs and the GST authorities, and we will provide it to any regulator, court or supervisory authority that asks, or to you if you have a legal need for it. Email reaches us faster in every other case.
Minnu is for adults only. You must be 18 or older to use it. Age is confirmed during onboarding and recorded on our servers. If anything in a conversation suggests a user is under 18, romantic behaviour is permanently disabled on that account and it is not re-enabled by a later claim to be older. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18; if we learn we have, we delete the account and its data.
We never ask for and never store a phone number.
What you'd like to be called, your pronouns, an age range, your timezone, a broad location hint you type yourself (for example "Kochi" or "Dubai" — never a GPS or network location), relationship status, language preference and Malayalam style, up to five interests, and how you'd like her to respond on a bad day. Also the companion-style settings you choose: warmth, playfulness, conversation energy and romance level, and a nickname if you set one.
The messages you send and Minnu's replies, with the time each was sent, the language detected, and the safety status of the reply. This is stored so the conversation is there when you come back.
Minnu records short facts you tell her — the things a person would remember about someone they talk to. Each is stored as a separate entry you can read, edit or delete on the Memories screen. You can pause new memories from being created, or turn memory off completely, at any time in Settings.
Which relationship stage you've reached, how many days you've been active, counts of meaningful exchanges, milestones earned, and daily message counters used to apply free-tier and fair-use limits.
Your subscription status, plan, renewal or expiry date and trial status, and a RevenueCat customer identifier. We never see or store your card, bank or UPI details. Payment is handled entirely by Google Play; we are only told whether an entitlement is active.
We record which screens and actions are used — for example that a paywall was viewed or that onboarding finished — tied to your Firebase user ID. Conversation text, memory contents and prompts are never sent to our analytics provider. This is enforced in code rather than by policy: analytics values are accepted only if they are numbers, booleans, or short identifier-shaped strings, so a sentence in Malayalam, Manglish or English cannot be transmitted whatever field it is placed in, and an event carrying an unsafe value is discarded entirely. Session replay is switched off.
If you report one of Minnu's messages, we store the reported message, the category you chose and the time. We also store safety flags on your account, such as whether romantic content has been disabled or whether a crisis response was recently shown.
| Purpose | Data used | Basis |
|---|---|---|
| Running the conversation and remembering you | Messages, memories, profile | Performance of our contract with you |
| Keeping the product safe and lawful | Safety flags, reports, messages | Legal obligation and legitimate interest in user safety |
| Applying free limits and subscriptions | Entitlement, usage counters | Performance of our contract |
| Sending notifications you asked for | Messaging token, schedule | Your consent, withdrawable in Settings |
| Fixing crashes and improving the product | Diagnostics, analytics events | Legitimate interest, with content excluded |
We do not sell personal data and we do not share it for advertising. We use a small number of processors, each for one job:
| Provider | What it receives | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Cloud Functions, Cloud Messaging, Crashlytics) | Account, profile, conversation, memories, subscription state, device token, crash diagnostics | Hosting and infrastructure. Data is stored in Google's Mumbai region (asia-south1). |
| Google Gemini API | The text of your current conversation and the memories relevant to it, at the moment a reply is generated | Generating Minnu's replies. We use a paid tier whose terms state that content is not used to improve Google's products. |
| RevenueCat | Your Firebase user ID and subscription events | Managing subscriptions and entitlements |
| PostHog | Your Firebase user ID and product events. No conversation content. | Product analytics and feature flags |
| Google Play | Handled by Google, not by us | Payment and billing |
We may also disclose data where we are legally required to, or where it is necessary to protect someone's life or safety.
Primary storage is in Google Cloud's Mumbai (asia-south1) region. Some processors — analytics and subscription management — operate in the United States, so limited data described above is transferred there under those providers' standard contractual protections.
All of these are in the app, and none of them require you to email us:
You also have the right to access, correct, and erase your data, to withdraw consent, and to complain to a supervisory authority. To exercise anything the app does not already give you directly, email founder@nikhilnelson.com.
Deleting your account removes your profile, your entire conversation, every memory, your relationship history, your subscription record with us, your notification schedule and device token, and your sign-in credential. It cannot be undone and we keep no copy.
Two honest exceptions, both deliberate:
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest by our infrastructure provider. Access rules deny everything by default: your app can read only your own data, and everything that carries safety or billing meaning is writable only by our server code, so a modified app cannot alter it. Message text, memory contents and prompts are never written to our server logs — content-bearing fields are replaced with a hash and a length before anything is logged. Credentials are held in a managed secret store and granted per function.
No system is perfectly secure. If we discover a breach affecting your personal data, we will notify you and the relevant authority as required by law.
Minnu is a generative AI character, not a real person. Her replies are produced by a language model and may be inaccurate. She does not provide medical, legal, financial or mental-health advice, and she is not a substitute for professional help or for a human relationship.
If a conversation suggests you may be at risk of harming yourself, the app stops the companion behaviour and shows supportive guidance and, where we have verified them, crisis helpline details. If you are in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services or someone you trust.
If we change this policy materially we will update the date at the top and notify you in the app before the change takes effect. Continued use after that means you accept the updated policy.
