This Privacy Policy explains how FormBuddy accesses, uses, stores, shares, and protects information when you use the FormBuddy Android app.
Who we are
FormBuddy is published by Nikhil Nelson, a sole proprietor registered in India and trading as Streamline. Nikhil Nelson is the data controller (and, under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, the Data Fiduciary) for the processing described here.

Camera frames and movement landmarks
With your permission, FormBuddy uses the Camera to detect supported body landmarks, count repetitions, and generate movement cues. Camera frames and live landmarks are processed temporarily on your device. FormBuddy does not save those frames, create a video library, or upload them to Nikhil Nelson.
FormBuddy does not perform facial recognition and does not identify you from your body or face. Movement landmarks are coordinate estimates used only to count repetitions and generate form cues in the moment. They are not used to uniquely identify any individual, are not converted into a biometric identifier or biometric template, are not retained after the frame is processed, and are never sold or disclosed. Because this processing is not carried out for the purpose of uniquely identifying a natural person, it does not constitute processing of biometric data under Article 9 of the GDPR.
Workout and preference data
FormBuddy stores workout sessions, repetition summaries, progress, challenge state, achievements, insights, reminder choices, accessibility preferences, and premium-entitlement state locally on your device. This information is used to provide app features and is not sent to Nikhil Nelson.
Information processed by service providers
Google Mobile Ads
The free version may display an advertisement on the progress screen. Google Mobile Ads may automatically collect and share an IP address (which can be used to estimate general location), app interactions, diagnostic information, Android advertising ID, app set ID, and related device or account identifiers. Google uses this information for advertising, analytics, and fraud prevention. Data is encrypted in transit. Applicable users are shown consent choices before ads are requested and can reopen “Privacy and cookie settings” from the app. See Google's Privacy Policy and Google's advertising controller terms.
Google Play Billing
If you purchase FormBuddy Premium, the transaction is processed by Google Play. FormBuddy receives purchase status, product identifier, and entitlement information needed to unlock and restore Premium. Nikhil Nelson does not receive your full payment-card details. Google handles payment information under its own privacy terms.
External links and exports
Policy and support links open in your browser. If you export workout data (a FormBuddy Premium feature), Android's share interface sends the file only to the destination you select. That browser, destination app, or service applies its own privacy policy.
Permissions
- Camera: on-device rep counting and movement cues.
- Notifications and vibration: optional workout reminders and coaching cues.
- Internet and network state: ads, consent messages, Play Billing, and external policy links.
- Advertising and Privacy Sandbox identifiers: supplied by Google Mobile Ads for advertising and measurement.
Why we process information, and on what legal basis
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on the following legal bases under Article 6(1):
- Performance of a contract (Article 6(1)(b)): delivering app functionality, and unlocking and restoring your FormBuddy Premium entitlement.
- Consent (Article 6(1)(a)): camera access, personalised advertising and the associated device and advertising identifiers, and optional workout reminder notifications. You can withdraw consent at any time — see “Your rights” below. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing carried out before withdrawal.
- Legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)): serving non-personalised advertising where you have declined personalised ads, preventing fraud and invalid traffic, and keeping the app secure and stable. Our interest is in funding and safeguarding a free app; we have assessed that this does not override your rights, in part because no workout content leaves your device.
Where India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 applies, we process personal data on the basis of your consent, or for the legitimate uses permitted by that Act.
Your rights
Because FormBuddy has no account and no server-side workout database, most of your data is under your direct control on your device: you can view, export, and permanently delete it from within the app at any time, without contacting us. For anything else, or to exercise a right against us, email founder@nikhilnelson.com. We respond within 30 days. We do not charge a fee and we will not discriminate against you for exercising any privacy right.
If you are in the EEA, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland
You have the right to request access to your personal data, and its rectification or erasure; to request restriction of processing; to object to processing carried out on the basis of legitimate interests; to data portability; and to withdraw consent. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority — in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office; in the EEA, the authority listed for your country by the European Data Protection Board. We do not carry out automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects.
If you are in India
You have the right to access a summary of your personal data and our processing of it, to correction and erasure, to nominate another person to exercise your rights in the event of death or incapacity, and to a readily available means of grievance redressal (see below). If your grievance is not resolved, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
If you are in the United States
Depending on your state, you may have the right to know what personal information is collected and to whom it is disclosed, to delete it, to correct it, to obtain a portable copy, and to opt out of the sale of personal information and of targeted advertising.
Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information / Opt out of targeted advertising. We do not sell personal information for money. However, when personalised ads are enabled, the advertising identifiers and app-interaction data described above are disclosed to Google for cross-context behavioural advertising, which some US state privacy laws treat as “selling” or “sharing.” To opt out, open FormBuddy and choose More → Legal & privacy → Privacy and cookie settings. You can also opt out device-wide in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads → Delete advertising ID, or remove ads entirely by purchasing FormBuddy Premium. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16.
Grievance redressal
Nikhil Nelson, as sole proprietor, is the point of contact for privacy questions, complaints, and rights requests, and acts as grievance officer for the purposes of India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. Write to founder@nikhilnelson.com, which is monitored and is the fastest route to us; we will provide a postal address for correspondence on request. Please include the FormBuddy version and a description of your request. We acknowledge grievances within 72 hours and aim to resolve them within 30 days.
Retention and deletion
Locally stored workout information remains until you delete it in FormBuddy, clear the app's storage in Android settings, or uninstall the app. Use More → Legal & privacy → Delete workout data for the in-app deletion control. FormBuddy has no user account or server-side workout profile to delete. See the data deletion guide.
Camera frames and movement landmarks are discarded as soon as each frame is processed and are never written to storage. Nikhil Nelson retains no copy of your workout data at all. Advertising and purchase information is held by Google, not by us; Google states the retention periods that apply in its own privacy policy and retains data as required by its legal obligations. Correspondence you send us by email is kept for up to 24 months so we can handle follow-up questions, then deleted.
Security
FormBuddy minimizes collection by keeping camera processing and workout history on-device. Service-provider network traffic uses encrypted transport. No storage or transmission method is guaranteed to be completely secure, so keep your device and Android version up to date. If a personal data breach occurs that is likely to result in a risk to your rights, we will notify the competent authority and affected users as required by applicable law.
Children
FormBuddy is intended for adults aged 18 and over and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children, and the app is listed for an 18-and-over audience. If you believe a child has used FormBuddy or that a child's information has reached us through a linked service, contact founder@nikhilnelson.com and we will delete it.
International transfers
We are based in India. Google and other services you select may process information in the United States and other countries, whose data protection laws may differ from those where you live. Where personal data of EEA or UK users is transferred outside those areas, Google relies on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses and the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, together with additional safeguards, as described in Google's data transfer terms. This website
This website sets no cookies, loads no third-party scripts, and contains no analytics or advertising trackers. Our hosting provider may keep short-lived server logs for security and reliability.
Changes
We may update this policy when app features, service providers, or legal requirements change. The effective date above will be updated. For material changes we will give notice in the app or on the store listing before the change takes effect, and where the law requires it, we will ask for your consent again.
